"MAC" In A Muddle

(late June 2020)

Executive Summary

The Kat Fone meowed. Aaron Andrews, superb cat-stuck-tree rescuer who handles North MS/Memphis area rescues, was calling. A kitty was stuck in Memphis, but Aaron was busy with a complex tree job requiring the rental of a large boom truck and was unable to do the rescue. I immediately agreed to help as Aaron has saved me many, many trips to the 901 area code! I contacted Christopher, the kitty's owner, and agreed to come out the next morning. When I arrived, Chris led me to a tree in his neighbor's back yard and pointed up. It took me a while, but I finally located 'Mac' at about 60 feet, crying loudly - he had been stuck for three days. I put a rope at 40 feet, and climbed the rest of the way to Mac using lanyards. Mac was chill, just hung out waiting for me to arrive which took awhile as I was a bit rusty in terms of climbing. Mac was about four feet out on the limb but came to me for an easy nab-N-bag, and Mac was soon back on the ground. Mac got into this predicament by escaping outside via a door that would not close tightly - Chris vowed to immediately head to a hardware store to fix the problem! Chris, many thanks for your generous donation to the Oktibbeha County Humane Society!
