"SYD" Celebrates the 4th in a Tree

(early July 2020)

Executive Summary

I got a call from Lane; their family cat "Syd" had been stuck for 24 hours in a deep ravine behind their house near Pontotoc MS. It was a hot 4th of July, and hot weather is tough on stuck kitties, so I agreed to immediately come out. Lane and his teenage son Asher met me on arrival, and helped carry my equipment down into the ravine. Syd was about 50 feet up and crying for help. I got lucky on a throw bag shot and hit the limb right next to Syd. When I reached Syd, he stubbornly remained just out of reach, despite taking a few licks from my wet cat food offering. When I climbed a little higher, he retreated out to the end of his short limb but I was now in range for a grab. He did not struggle, and I was able to stuff him into the Kat bag. Back on the ground, Lane brought Syd inside and he was soon relaxing in AC-comfort. Lane, many thanks for your generous donation to the Oktibbeha County Humane Society!
