Hannah called me on a Saturday morning. Her kitty had been missing all night, and they located her high in a tree next to their property near Bywy MS. There was a large storm coming the next day, could I help? I said that I could, and arrived there a couple of hours later. Hannah led me to the sweet gum tree where 'Kitty' was perched at about 45 feet. I set a rope in a strong union about five feet below Kitty, and started climbing. During the rescue, James (Hannah's husband), arrived with their younger child in order to give encouragement. Kitty remained calmed as I climbed to her. Some handy limbs allowed me to easily step up into my tie-in spot, from which was I was level with Kitty. She accepted some scritches before I bagged her. Back on the ground, Hannah took her inside for food and water. Kitty will not be going outside at night any more in order to prevent a repeat occurrence! Hannah and James, many thanks for your generous donation to the Oktibbeha County Humane Society! And I will point out that all maintained proper social distancing during the rescue!
