"Annie" Ain't coming down
(late November 2021)
Executive Summary
Dexter contacted me via Facebook Messenger about "Annie", a family rescue kitty who had climbed a tree in New Hope AL during the late afternoon and was now stuck. Since it was dark, I arranged to do the rescue the next morning. On arrival, Dexter showed me the Tulip Poplar tree where "Annie" was hanging out at about 35 feet. She was looking down at us and crying for help. I set a rope above Annie, at about 50 feet, then carefully climbed up, trying not to spook her. Annie watched me closely, but did not climb higher and seemed interested in kitty treats when I showed them to her. She calmly accepted some scritches, and allowed me to do a Nab-N-Bag with no complaints. Back on the ground, Dexter took Annie inside for food, water, and warmth. All ended happily! Dexter, many thanks for your generous donation to the Oktibbeha County Humane Society!
