"CAKE" Needs Help

(early May 2020)

Executive Summary

I received a late evening voice mail from Jamie -- her 5-year old daughter's kitty ("Cake") was stuck in a tree in their backyard in Maben. I called back and arranged to be there the next morning. I was met by Jamie, her oldest daughter Ashlynn, and 5-year old Mary Jane on arrival. They led me to the tree where Cake was crying loudly, who was only about 20 feet up in a large crotch. I told Jamie that the rescue would be trivial, which immediately jinxed myself as Cake retreated about 8 feet up a slanting leader during the rope setup. I climbed up to Cake's original position, and then used a lanyard to get closer to Cake. She remained calm and allowed me to scritch her before the nab-N-bag. Back on the ground, a happy Mary Jane went inside with Jamie to give food and water to Cake. Mary Jane had to hug me a couple of times in thanks before I left, and told me that 'I was the best'. And THAT is why I rescue kitties out of trees -- To help the people who care for their kitties!
