Two Rescues  - UNKNOWN and Cashew

Early Oct 2023)

Executive Summary

This post is about two rescues. The first rescue I will only mention briefly because the owner requested privacy.  The rescue in Huntsville; the kitty was about 30 ft up in a large, spreading hardwood and was skittish.  I had to set a trap in the tree the first day since the kitty would not come to me. Fortunately, the kitty went into the trap that night and I was able to retrieve the kitty and trap the next day. There are no pictures or video  for this rescue.

The second rescue was for orange boy "Cashew" from Cullman who I rescued last November. Mickey and Rachel contacted me, Cashew was stuck again, this time about 35 ft up a hardwood near the previous rescue location, which is a wooded location behind his house next to a clear cut field that is now overgrown with head-high brambles.  After arrival, Mickey and Rachel led me to the tree where Cashew was crying piteously for a rescue. During rope setup, he yowled loudly at every limb shake and rope movement.  Cashew as terrified and just wanted DOWN.  When I neared him, Cashew accepted some scritches and settled down. He was gracious during the grab-N-bag, was soon back on the ground in Rachel's arms.  Mickey told me that Cashew was sentenced to house arrest for about a month after the first rescue, and would probably be in the slammer for a similar time this go-around. At least Cashew knows how to climb if he gets in trouble in the big outside!
