"Mozzie" Makes Holly Go UP

(late Nov 2022)

Executive Summary

My wife and I were driving back from Nashville late on Thanksgiving afternoon from vising our son/DIL/grandson when I received a call from Ruby - her inside kitty had gotten out and was now up a tree. When I got home, she sent me a video that showed 'Mozzie' as not very high. Even though it was already dark, Ruby was only 11 minutes from my house so I decided to drive over for an easy rescue. Two hours later, I drove home, with Mozzie still in the tree. On my drive over, Mozzie decided to transfer to a different tree, and climbed up to 60 feet. I climbed up to her, but she went out on a limb and would not come to me. I put a trap in the tree, and told Holly and Ruby to hope for the best. The next morning, Mozzie was NOT in the trap, but had gone back to her original tree and limb and was now only 30 feet up. Holly (Ruby's mom) had some rappelling experience, and was willing to be hauled up to the skittish Mozzie. While I was rigging the ropes, Chris B, a friend of Holly's and an expert tree climber arrived, and helped out. We hauled Holly up to Mozzie and Holly easily bagger her with no problems. Back on the ground, Mozzie was taken inside by Ruby for food and water, the two day rescue was over! Chris B. volunteered to climb the other tree and retrieve my trap, which I readily accepted! Corey (Ruby's friend), thanks for your assistance on the haul line and carrying gear. Chris said that he rescues about one cat a week in the Huntsville area so I got his contact info as another kitty rescuer resource.

Ruby, many thanks for your generous donation to Lovable Feline Rescue of North Alabama!
