"FLutter" Gets Trapped

(late Feb 2024)

Not every kitty I rescue is stuck in a tree. Maria contacted me; she had received my phone number from Huntsville Fire. Her 11 yr old family kitty "Flutter" had been missing for a couple of days, and the kitty had been sighted that day in a next-door empty house running around in the garage rafters/adjoining roof space.  I arrived the next morning with a live trap and a 16-ft step ladder.  We walked over to the empty house; Maria had talked to the owners and was given permission to enter the garage.  The garage/shop had an open ceiling of rafters, and adjoined to a patio space that was covered, and then joined to the roof of the house. I climbed up and put a live trap with wet cat food on some plywood that was over several rafters; Flutter had easy access to the trap if she was still up there.  Maria called for Flutter but no kitty showed; a large thunderstorm had just passed and Flutter was probably in a safe hidey hole.  It was about 11:00 am when I left, and by 2:00 pm Flutter was in the trap. The house was only 15 minutes away, so I was soon on scene where I met Maria's brother and we retrieved the trap (Maria was at work).  Inside Maria's house I opened the trap and Flutter zoomed off to some safe spot away from the bad stranger, probably under a bed.  So, all ended well!
