Jelly Gets High
(early Apr 2023)
Executive Summary
I was driving in the AM to Decatur AL for a training when I noticed a voicemail from Grant in Huntsville, their kitty "Jelly" had been stuck up a tree in a neighbor's yard since yesterday. I texted back and said I could be there in late afternoon. When I arrived, Grant and his neighbor Butch led me to the backyard where Jelly was hanging out at about 40 feet on a single-stemmed hardwood. Charlotte (Grant's better half) was also there to help sweet talk Jelly. The tree went up for a bit, then keep angling over until it was nearly level where Jelly was laying. I put a rope at about 30 feet that was about 10 feet away from Jelly so as to not spook her further up the tree and was soon at the tie-in point. Jelly was too scared to come down the sloping part to me, so I put a lanyard on a limb closer to her, and pulled myself up until I was only about 3 feet from Jelly. She decided that I was ok, came close, made friends, and went into the bag with no complaints. Back on the ground, Charlotte and Grant took Jelly back inside for food and water. Butch was concerned about Jelly and relieved that the rescue was successful. Butch, many thanks for your generous donation to Lovable Feline Rescue of North Alabama!
