"GOOSE" is A SWEET BOY

(mid Jan 2023)

Executive Summary

Neysa from Florence AL contacted me via Facebook about an unknown kitty who had been stuck up a tree in her neighbor's yard for a couple of days (I had a call from Colbert County 911 earlier in the day and it turned out to be the same kitty). The neighbor was out of town, and Neysa's heart was breaking over the kitty meowing for help. The kitty had a collar, and would rub its head on the limb during Neysa's attempts to talk it down, so it had to be someone's pet. I agreed to come out the next morning. Neysa met me on arrival, and said she had found the kitty's owner (Megan) just a couple of doors down. Megan joined us, and said the kitty was named 'Goose', and that Megan had known he was stuck and had been looking for help but had been unsuccessful. Goose was only about 30 feet up, so I was able to quickly set a rope and start climbing. Goose watched with interest as I approached, and clearly wanted a rescue. He allowed me to snag and bag him with only a few complaints. Back on the ground, I handed the chunky boy over to Megan who took him inside for food and water. Neysa, many thanks for your gas money donation and also thanks to the unknown neighbor who came up and handed me money while I was sitting in the truck - I was on the phone with 911 services telling them the kitty had been rescued and before I could thank him he had disappeared!
