"Luna" - A good Boy in a Bad Spot

(mid December 2020)

Executive Summary

"Luna" was discovered by Donnie as a one-week old abandoned kitten early one morning at work in Brandon MS. Donnie took Luna home, and he and his wife Hope, bottle nursed the tiny kitten to health where he became a loved member of their family. Luna (male, indoor kitty) escaped outside one day, and somehow became stuck 40 feet up a pine tree in a neighbor's yard. I was tagged in a Facebook post by Hope, contacted by Donnie, and arrived at the house on a Saturday morning. Donnie and Hope led me to the neighbor's house, where Chad kindly let us carry equipment through his house as that was the only access to the fence-enclosed backyard. Luna was crying loudly and desperately wanted a rescue. I set a rope in the tree and ascended. Luna was happy to see me, but yowled at being scruffed and stuffed into the cat bag (sorry Luna!). In gratitude for allowing us to rescue Luna, Donnie asked Chad if he liked beer, and Chad answered 'Michelobe Ultra!' which Donnie promised to deliver later that day. Luna, please stay inside and out of trees in the future! Donnie and Hope, many thanks for your generous donation to the Oktibbeha County Humane Society.
