Rose contacted me about a rescue kitty that her daughter (Lisa) had taken in. The kitty had been with Lisa for a little over a week, but was now stuck 45 feet up a pine tree in her yard in Bruce MS. I agreed to come out the next day. Lisa greeted me on arrival, and it was easy to spot the kitty as the tree was near the house in the front yard. The kitty was crying, looking down at us and hoping for a rescue. Lisa said that the kitty was friendly, and she confirmed this by kneading her paws and rubbing her head. Rose joined us during rope setup and I was soon ascending towards the kitty. She patiently waited for me to reach her, and calmly let me transfer her from the limb to my lap. She chilled there for a while before transferring into the Kat bag. Back on the ground, Lisa took her inside for food and water. While packing the truck, Rose explained that she ran Dog Lover's League, a rescue organization in Bruce that has saved 3000+ animals since 2014. This kitty was found at a house where a resident had moved and abandoned three dogs. Lisa was kind hearted enough to agree to take the kitty in. I decided to call the kitty by 'Sweetie', since she was a sweetheart in the tree. Hopefully, Sweetie will not repeat her tree climbing experiment. Rose and Lisa, many thanks for your generous donation to the Oktibbeha County Humane Society!
