"Crunch" is not very high

(late Dec 2022)

Executive Summary

Jerry texted me about Crunch, their 10 year old Tortie. She had been stuck up a tree near New Market AL since the previous day, not very high, but extremely cold weather was expected to arrive that night. I agreed to come out immediately, and was on scene in about an hour. Crunch was only about 25 feet up a hardwood tree, but sitting in the only available union for a rope. So, I stem climbed up to her, which uses alternating rope cinches about the trunk in order to ascend. I made slow but steady progress and eventually reached Crunch. She was happy to see me, and purred up a storm when I pulled her down into my lap. Back on the ground Jerry's daughters took Crunch back to the house were she was soon catching up on her missed meals. The next morning saw single digit temperatures, so it was a good thing that Crunch was no longer in the tree!
