"PJ" is in a Pickle

(mid Apr 2023)

Executive Summary

Bill contacted me - their kitty "PJ" went missing overnight in Madison AL and they found him 40 ft up a Tulip Popular in a neighbor's yard.  I agreed to come out, and Susan met me on arrival. PJ was crying loudly from his perch in the massive Poplar -- fortunately he had not climbed to the top of the 90 ft tree.  I put a rope near PJ and started climbing. When I reached PJ's position, I tried making friends with treats but PJ was stand offish.  PJ barely tolerated my scritches, so I decided to bag him before he went higher. When I reached for the grab PJ tried to escape higher but he is a big boy, and his escape velocity was somewhat on the the slow side, so I was able to get two hands on him and drag him into my lap. PJ was quite happy there, but yowled going into the bag.  Back on the ground I handed the hefty boy over to Susan who took him inside for food and water.  It is unknown as to why PJ went up the tree, hopefully it will not happen again!
