It was a near perfect early July morning so Howard, Patrick and John decided to try out a slightly different route, heading down to Barrow and then up Melton Road onto the Salt Way which was followed until the riders could "turn back" via Berrycott Lane into Seagrave. In Seagrave a brief stop was made to examine the CTC Winged Wheel "Quarters" sign at the end of Church Road. From Seagrave it was all downhill to Sileby and excellent refreshments at the Green Place. After due sustenance the riders returned to Loughborough via Mountsorrel getting back just before noon.
