A beautiful spring day awaited Patrick, Derek, Graham, Eric, Howard and John. The riders headed south past Mucklin Wood and out toward Swithand, spotting a "March Hare" in the field on the left of Brand Lane. Passing through the new housing estate at Rothley, the riders met up with Ray Clay at Birstall Methodist Church Hall for refreshments. Before leaving they were able to admire Dave Warnock's "Bike for Life" with its plastic chain and Rolhoff gearing. The riders returned via Watermead Park (where they spotted a large heron only a few yards from the cycle track), Sileby and Mountsorrel arriving back in Loughborough a few minutes after noon.
