A grey overcast day with a cold northerly wind awaited Howard, Patrick, Terry and John. It was decided to go upwind with a view to being blown home so the riders proceeded north through Hathern, taking a detour through the village to avoid using the main road. With the sun starting to break through, the group then continued north via Long Whatton and up Kegworth Lane, crossng the Soar to ride through Kingston on Soar. Turning south with wind assistance the riders diverted via Landcroft Lane before arriving at the village shop in Normanton on Soar for some welcome refreshments. It was then a short ride back into Loughborough over Fox Hill in time for lunch.
