After two weeks with no rides due to rain being forecast all looked good when the Tuesday forecast showed dry in the morning and wet in the afternoon. A mistake. Peter, Jerry, Howard and John arrived at the start with drizzle coming down on a very grey day. Derek had been expected but failed to show and the riders agreed it would be a good idea to stick to tarmac, so it was decided to head for the village shop at Normanton on Soar via West Leake and Sutton Bonnington. After a rather damp ride in waterproofs the riders arrived for welcome refreshment in Normaton to discover Derek already in situ. He had set out from Wookhouse Eaves to join the ride but found the path by Mucklin Wood to be very muddy and so diverted to a longer route via Quorn. The meant that he missed the start, but having ascertained the direction of the ride from a pedestrian, he guessed the destination and had taken the direct route to Normanton. After refreshment the riders returned by way of Fox Hill.
