Today Alan, Rob, Brian and myself set off from Outwoods Drive roundabout at the slightly later time of 9:45 a.m. Well it was Boxing Day. The only coffee stop I had been able to find that was open and within a reasonable distance was the Belvoir Brewery at Old Dalby. We took the direct route to Wymeswold. Here we met up with Pat and her husband Roman. There was six of us now. The roads were fairly quiet, even the A roads, though it was a little dismal, the weather being totally overcast with either a mist or low cloud. We reached our coffee stop just before 11; they were just opening up as we locked our bikes up outside. Coffee and tea arrived fairly rapid, possibly because we were their only customers at this time. Unfortunately there was no cake to be had only Mars bars, Rolos, and crisps. Though there was plenty of beer should we have needed it. Immediately after leaving we had a challenging little hill known locally as Green Hill (Ostler Lane) that took up to Six Hills Lane (must be one of the six I suppose). On reaching the crossroads with A6006 Pat noticed her rear tyre had lost some air and was now quite soft. We decided it was only a slow puncture and pumped it back up to an acceptable pressure. Onto Paudy Lane and Pat's trye was still o.k. and Pat and Roman instead of turning for Wymeswold, (both of them not having done much mileage) decided the downhill all the way to Barrow was too much to miss. they therefore joined us for the descent only turning off at the bottom, towards home. We continued to Barrow on Soar, Farley Way and joined Epinal Way to return to our starting point, by now the sun had come out and the mist had cleared. We arrived back about 1 p.m. A quite satisfactory ride out for Boxing Day.
