A rather grey late October day saw Anne, Terry, Patick, Graham, Howard, Lynn and John head off for the highest tea room in Leicestershire at Ulverscroft. However as the riders headed up Laurel Road a faint clinking could be heard emanating from Patrick's cycle. On closer examination this was found to be a broken spoke in the rear wheel. It was then decided that rather then risk the rough track past Mucklin Wood and the stress of a climb to the top of the forest, the riders would take the flattest available route up the Soar valley to Syston. The riders took the new cycle track around the new housing estate to the Woodthorpe roundabout and then rode out through Quorn, Mountsorrel, Sileby, Cossington and down to the canal at the Soar/Wreake junction before following the cycle track into the Brook Care in Syston. Afer a repast taken inside the riders returned whence they came without incident.
