The rain cleared just in time for Howard, Clyde, Lyn, Anne, Rob, David, Patrick, David, Myles, John and Brian to set out on a ride up to St. Joseph's Tea room near the monastery in Oaks in Charnwood. The group headed out through the university and followed the cycle track alongside Ashby Road to Shepshed where the bypassed the town centre by taking Anson Road to Tickow Lane. This had been conveniently "traffic calmed" by way of road closure relating to a new building development. The road near the bridge over the disused railway was nearly blocked by a lorry but the riders managed to negotiate their bikes along the verge. The group continued to the tea room where the were met by Ray Clay and a pleasant repast was taken in the large lounge. The riders then returned via Beacon Hill and Quorn arriving back in Loughborough just after noon.
