John was joined by Patrick and Stuart for a short but brisk ride to Stonehurst Farm at Mount Sorrel so as to avoid the oncoming rain.
By the time the riders reached Swithland, enjoying the traffic free "closed road" through the village, Stuart was grumbling about a calorie deficit following a long ride on the previous day and his ride from Kegworth that morning.
Once at Stonehurst Farm the excellent tea and cakes soon remedied the shortfall and the riders left a little earlier than usual to return to Loughborough just as the first drops of rain began to fall
