A rather murky morning saw another good turnout with the group splitting into two rides. David, Myles, Patrick, Marcus, John and Rosalind decided on a shorter and slower ride by a rather circuitous route to the Cafe Next Door in Woodhouse Eaves. They headed out via Haddon Way taking the cycle track along the north side of Mucklin Wood to Woodthorpe before heading south through Quorn and then up Hawcliff Hill and on to Rothley Station. From there they headed into Cropston, taking the road across the reservoir dam following Roecliffe Road to Broombriggs where they turned north for Woodhouse Eaves for refreshments. The riders then had a short ride back to Loughborough past Quorn station arriving before noon.

Meanwhile David, Clyde, Terry, Howard, Phil, Derek, Jeff, Rosie and Brian, who preferred a longer ride, decided to head out to the Nice Pie tea room in Old Dalby. Howard our leader informed us it would be a 50k ride and we could expect to be home around 1pm for lunch. With all the information to hand the group set off winding its way through the outskirts of Loughborough to avoid the Market Place and the small fair that is in progress at the moment. The riders regrouped by Brush on Meadow lane where, as usual in this area, Terry and Derek informed us they had spent most of there working lives there.

The group then proceeded out over the Meadows to East Leake, Wymeswold and finally arrived at the Nice Pie tea room.

It being the school holidays it was lovely to see that one of our regular cyclist had brought his daughter Rosie along, who impressed us all by keeping up with the group and doing a 50k ride. Not bad for a 10 year old.

As it was such a lovely day the riders were treated to waitress service in the wonderful gardens. It was decided that, as it was a long distance back, we would not order a pie each and instead stick to the usual tea and cake.

Entertainment was provided by our usually responsible adult, Clyde, who let his guard slip and knocked his tea over the table, much to the amusement of the rest of the group. After admiring the Alpacas we decided that we would take the quieter roads back home and headed back via Six Hills and Barrow upon Soar, arriving back into Loughborough around 1pm.
