Going south through Mucklin Wood

What is often thought of as a typical dank November day awaited Ray, Terry, Derek, Jerry, Howard and John. It was decided to try out the Rothley Court Hotel for the first time and the riders processed along a rather muddy track past Mucklin Wood and then on to Rothley Manor via Swithland. The Hotel, which in its former glory as a stately home had provided the headquarter for Wilberforce and his allies in drafting the anti-slavery bill. Rothley Preceptory , which is attached to the hotel, was built by the Knights Templar in 1231.

After some excellent tea/coffee and cakes, the riders crossed the Soar returing via Cossington, Sileby and Barrow.
