A beautiful sunny morning with barely a cloud in the sky and a slight breeze greeted John, Isobel and Peter. It was anticipated that refreshment places might be hard to find so it was decided to head for Bradgate Park/Newton Linford, as there are 4 Cafes in the vicinity with probably the best chance of finding one open. It was fairly quiet at the northern end of the park, but as the riders proceeded south the pedestrians increased in numbers. The Deer Barn Tea Room missed out on substantial trade as it was closed. Fortunately the Old Post Office had set up a barbecue serving coffee, tea, cake and bacon/sausage cobs outside, where the riders obtained refreshment.

It was decided to avoid Bradgate Park for the return journey as the car park was now full and cars were parking along the road. It was busier than on many summer weekends, people having been attracted out by the sunshine and mild temperatures. Heading for Anstey the riders were joined by Isobel's older sister, Sophie, who was out on a "training" ride. She stayed with the group until just after Anstey when she moved off at speed. Peter left for home after passing Rothley Station, while John and Isobel headed back towards Loughborough via Swithland and Woodhouse Eaves, before taking on the challenge of Beacon Hill, eventually descending rapidly through Nanpantan. An excellent morning's ride.
