An intrepid quartet, Anne, Ray, Howard and Terry, set off on a bright sunny morning, into Charnwood Forest. Having passed Beaumanor, a now tamed deer park, the riders processed through the settlements of Woodhouse, Swithland and Rothley. Close to Cossington the natives were found to be friendly and coins were traded for a meal of tea and cakes. The quartet returned safely passing through villages later discovered to be Sileby, Barrow and Quorndon.
