Split Pea Soup

Modified from Spruce Eats

***needs a crock pot***

1 (16 oz) pkg dried split peas

1 meaty ham bone (or 2 cups diced ham, but the ham bone is better)

3 medium carrots, peeled and sliced

1/2 cups chopped onion

2 stalks celery, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 large bay leaf

2 tsp dried parsley

1/2 tsp pepper

1 tbsp talk

6 cups broth

Layer ingredients into crockpot in given order. Add in the stock. Do not stir the ingredients. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours until ham is falling off bone.

Remove heat from bone and chop if needed. Add meat back in. Find and remove bay leaf.

Mash peas if needed, but I never needed to.

Serves 8.
