Croque Monsieur Sliders

Modified from Fred Meyer Magazine

12 slider buns

2 tbsp butter

1 1/2 tsp flour

1 1/4 cup milk

1 tbsp Dijon mustard

salt and pepper

12 slices ham (Black Forest is good, but whatever you have!)

3 cups grated Swiss cheese, divided

Preheat oven to 400. Line baking sheet with parchment paper (I totally did and would recommend you - this is messy!)

Place bottoms of slider buns on baking sheet. Keep somewhat connected.

In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium high heat. Add flour; cook, whisking for 1 minute. Add milk while whisking steadily. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Whisk in mustard, season, to taste, with salt and pepper. Keep warm.

Spread tops and bottoms of rolls with sauce, keeping some for topping. Folder ham slices into quarters and place on roll bottoms. Sprinkle 1 cup of cheese overly over ham, then add roll top.

Drizzle assembled sliders with reserved sauce, then with rest of cheese. Bake until sauce bubbles and cheese melts and browns slightly, 15-20 minutes.

Separately sandwiches and serve hot. These are messy, but good!
