Steak 'n' Fries Salad

Modified from Cooking for 2

3 tbsp sugar

2 tbsp canola oil

4 1/2 tsp malt vinegar

1 1/2 tsp water

1 cup frozen French fried potatoes

1/2 lb steak, thinly sliced

3 cups shredded lettuce

1/4 cup red onion

1/3 cup chopped carrots (this used tomatoes, which we don't like, so I substituted what I felt like)

1/2 cup mozzarella cheese

For dressing, in a jar with a good lid, combine sugar, oil, vinegar and water; shake well. Refrigerate.

Prepare French fries according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a small skillet coated with nonstick spray, cook steak strips over medium heat for 8-10 minutes or until meat reaches desired doneness.

On two salad plates, arrange the lettuce, carrot and onions. Top with French friends, steak and cheese. Shake dressing and drizzle over. Serve immediately.

NOTE: I know this sounds strange, but its REALLY good. I even liked the dressing and I'm rather picky. Ray didn't, though, as it was pretty sweet, which he doesn't like.
