Tell me about your morning routine?
I live in a small apartment in the city center with my father's husband, my seven-year-old daughter Ella and my son Or, who turned out to be three months old. We also have a small poodle dog. My father usually wakes up first. He is always busy, does not rest for a moment. He goes off with the dog for a short walk, arranges himself, makes breakfast and sandwiches for lunch, and even succeeds in bringing up a status with a family picture or chirping something political. I always wake up in reverse after a sleepless night because the light wakes up every three hours. I nurse the light, wake Ella, dress her and make her a coco. The therapist usually arrives at the last minute without breathing. It makes us all nervous. My father does not have a permit, so I drive him down in the office and go to work.
I heard you went on a walk in the United States last summer. How was? Tell me about an interesting or unusual case of a trip.
It was at the end of the trip. I took a taxi to the airport and a second after the taxi left I found that the bag with the cell phone, the credit cards, the passport and the cash remained in the taxi ... I had no idea what the taxi number was or what the taxi company was. I did not know what to do. I was in total despair. I went to the reception desk of El Al and told them what had happened. The clerk was nice and friendly but said he could not do anything, without a passport I could not travel. He called two taxi companies and left them a message. I was sure there was no chance. The driver does not know me and I'm out of here for a minute, why would he want to find me and give me back the phone and hundreds of dollars in cash? Then, Hans happened. The driver appeared and said he had been looking for me for more than half an hour and had already been at the counters of all the airlines. I could not believe there were such people! I gave him some of the dollars. He deserved it! Happy and kind-hearted I got on a flight, can not believe how lucky I was. All is well that ends well. The family welcomed me at home with a blessed welcome and I immediately told them about my adventure.
What's new with your organization? What are the issues that preoccupy you these days?
We are currently focusing on assisting the refugees and asylum seekers in Israel. In recent months, the number of requests for help has increased dramatically and we are busy with work. The good news is that public awareness of the refugees' problems has also risen. The number of volunteers who joined us doubled, and this year we succeeded in doubling the number of donations. People turn to us and ask how we can help and this is definitely an important and encouraging development and a trend that I hope will continue and grow stronger. I am pleased to report that we could offer some support and legal assistance to most of the asylum seekers who applied to us. We also have a wonderful president who has brought a new spirit to the organization and has established important contacts with government officials and donors from around the world. Personally, I am very pleased with the work. Our activity is important and necessary, and this also affects labor relations. There is a good atmosphere in the office and a sense of cooperation and dedication.
