Tell me about your morning routine?
I live in a small apartment in the city center with my husband Abby, with my seven-year-old daughter Ella and my son Or who turned three months old yesterday. We also have a little poodle dog. My father usually wakes up first. He's always busy, not resting for a second. He goes down with the dog for a short walk, organizes himself, makes us breakfast and sandwiches for lunch and even manages in between uploading some status with a family photo or tweeting something political. I always wake up upside down after a sleepless night because light wakes up every three hours. I breastfeed Orr, wake these up, dress her up and make her a ponytail. The nanny usually arrives at the last minute and without breathing. It makes us all nervous. My father doesn't have a license, so I drive him down in the office and those at school and drive to work.
I heard you went hiking in the States last summer. How was it? Tell me about an interesting or unusual case on the trip.
It was at the end of the trip. I took a taxi to the airport and a second after the taxi went I found that the bag with the phone, credit cards, passport and cash stayed in the taxi... I had no idea what the taxi number was or the name of the taxi company. I didn't know what to do. I was in complete despair. I went to EL AL's front desk and told them what had happened. The clerk was nice and friendly but said he couldn't do anything, without a passport I can't travel. He called two taxi companies and left them a message. I was sure there was no way. The driver doesn't know me and I'm going to fly out of here in a minute, why would he bother finding me and returning my phone and hundreds of dollars in cash? And then, the miracle happened. The driver showed up and said he had been looking for me for more than half an hour and had already been at the counters of all the airlines. I couldn't believe there were people like that! I gifted him some of the dollars. He deserved it! Happy and kind I got on the flight, can't believe how lucky I was. Happy ending, it's all good. The family welcomed me home with a welcome back and I immediately told them about my adventure.
What's new with your nonprofit? What are the issues that concern you these days?
We are currently focusing on helping refugees and asylum seekers in Israel. In recent months, the number of requests for help has increased dramatically and we are busy with work. The good news is that public awareness of the refugees' problems has also increased. The number of volunteers who joined us doubled and we were able to double the number of donations this year. People turn to us and ask how we can help and this is definitely an important and encouraging development and a trend that I hope will continue to grow stronger. I am pleased to report that we have been able to offer some support and legal support and assistance to the majority of asylum seekers who have contacted us. We also have a wonderful president right now who brought a new spirit to the nonprofit and formed important contacts with government officials and donors from all over the world. Personally, I'm very happy at work. Our activity is important and necessary and has an impact on labor relations as well. There is a good atmosphere in the office and a sense of cooperation and adherence to the goal.
