What kind of house did you live in when you were a child? Please describe it and its surroundings in detail, just as I can see it.
I grew up in a big city in northern China. At that time, my family lived in a red brick apartment building. We live in a small courtyard, so we have a first floor apartment. My father installed a small swing for me in the yard, and my mother would plant some flowers and tomatoes in the yard in summer. My family has three bedrooms with windows facing south or North. From the south window you can see another apartment building, and from the North window you can see our small park.
Please tell me about a tense / terrible moment that you / your friend / your family experienced.
When I was traveling in Taiwan, I once visited Meiyuan of Tsinghua University. It was summer vacation at that time, and I was the only one in Meiyuan in the morning. When I saw the famous plum Pavilion, I naturally wanted to take pictures as a souvenir. But I found out that the marble tables and chairs in Maxine Pavilion were occupied by two dogs. The dog probably also thinks that Meiting is a good place for summer rest. The problem is that the owner of the dog has not been found. When the two dogs saw me raising my camera in their direction, they stood up vigilantly and growled. I hesitated for a moment, but still click the shoot button. But I forgot to mute the camera. With a click, the two dogs came straight at me as if they had heard the order. I'm very nervous, because those two dogs are fierce, and I'm thin and unprotected. It would be very bad if I was bitten by a vicious dog! At the critical moment, I thought of the dog trainer's strategies I had seen in the book before, so I stood still and relaxed, thinking, "I am their master and they have to listen to me." then I tried to calm down and scold them, "where's your master?" By this time, two dogs had rushed in front of me. As soon as my voice fell, they stopped at the local place, whined to me again, then turned around and ran back to Meiting. I breathed a sigh of relief. I didn't expect that the method I learned from the book could really work, but it was not dangerous.
Nowadays people like to travel. Besides travel for practical purposes, travel itself has become a fashion. Why do you think people travel? What does travel mean to people's lives?
The ancients said, read ten thousand books, travel ten thousand miles. That is to say, travel is as important as reading. Travel is a kind of learning, which makes up for the lack of learning from books based on understanding and imagination. It enables us to enter strange regions and environments, and understand different cultures and lives. Travel is a kind of experience as well as a kind of self discovery and self growth. When we go out of the house, we can see the beauty of the world, the vastness of the mountains and rivers, the various forms of the world, and all kinds of people. We not only know the world, but also position ourselves. In the era of rapid development of science and technology, perhaps we have really achieved the goal of "scholars do not go out, they know the world". Virtual reality technology may one day enable us to experience the world vividly without leaving home. However, I believe that travel is still an irreplaceable life experience, and its most important significance is to let us get out of our familiar comfort zone, really get acquainted with our own environment, and get a new and fresh experience. Only when we walk on the road and let our bodies Cross Mountains and rivers, streets and alleys, can we gain the pride of "towards the blue sea and at dusk", the vision of "seeing all living beings and heaven and earth", the warmth of mutual help with donkey friends and the surprise of collision with strange souls. In short, the true meaning of travel is - as Milan Kundera famously put it - "to live elsewhere.".
