What was your house like when you were a child? Please describe it in detail and its surroundings as if I could see it.
I grew up in a big city in northern China, where my family lived in a red brick apartment building. The apartment building has five floors. My family lives on the first floor, so we have a small yard. My father installed a small swing for me in the yard. My mother will plant some flowers and tomatoes in the yard in summer. There are three bedrooms in my house, with windows facing south or north. From the south-facing window we can see another apartment building and from the north-facing window we can see a small park in our community.
Please tell me about a tense/terrible moment that you/your friend/family have experienced.
When I was traveling in Taiwan, I visited the Meiyuan Garden of Tsinghua University. It was summer vacation, and I was the only one in Meiyuan in the morning. When I saw the famous Mei Pavilion, I naturally wanted to take pictures. But I found that the marble tables and chairs in Mei Ting were occupied by two dogs. Dogs may also think that Mei Ting is a good place for summer rest, but the problem is that the owner of the dog has not been seen. When the two dogs saw me raising my camera in their direction, they stood up vigilantly and growled. I hesitated and clicked the shooting button. But I forgot to set the silence for the camera and just listened to the click. The two dogs rushed towards me as if they had heard the command. I was very nervous, because the two dogs came fiercely, and I was wearing thin clothes, no protection, if the bad dog bite, it is not terrible! In a short time, I thought of the dog trainer's strategy I had seen in the book before, so I stood still, slightly sided, relaxed, and thought, "I am their master, they have to listen to me." Then I tried to calmly rebuke them: "Where is your master?" By this time, two dogs had rushed to me. As soon as my voice fell, they stopped there and whined at me a few more times, then turned their heads and ran back to Mei Pavilion. I breathed a sigh of relief. Unexpectedly, the way I learned from books worked, and it was a surprise.
Nowadays people like to travel. In addition to travel for practical purposes, travel itself has become a fashion. Why do you think people travel? What does travel mean to people's lives?
The ancients said, read ten thousand books, travel ten thousand miles. That is to say, travel is as important as reading. Travel is a kind of learning. It makes up for the lack of book learning by understanding and imagination. It enables us to enter unfamiliar areas and environments and understand different cultures and life. Travel is more an experience, but also a kind of self-discovery and self-growth. When we go out of our homes, view the beauty of heaven and earth, see the vastness of mountains and rivers, see all kinds of people in the world, and so on, we have positioned ourselves while knowing the world. In the era of rapid development of science and technology, perhaps we have really achieved the goal of "knowing the world without leaving home", and virtual reality technology may one day enable us to experience the world's various forms without leaving home. However, I believe that travel is still an irreplaceable life experience. Its most important significance is to let us get out of our familiar comfort zone, truly defamiliarize our environment, and achieve a new and fresh experience. Only when we walk on the road and let our bodies Cross Mountains and rivers, streets and lanes, can we harvest the pride of "towering towards the blue sea and twilight", "seeing all living beings, seeing the heaven and earth", and appreciate the warmth of mutual assistance with donkeys and friends, and the surprise of collision with strange souls. In a word, the true meaning of travel is to live elsewhere, as Milan Kundera famously said.
