Even though it was the day after the long Labor Day weekend, seven of us (Buck, Bill, Bob, Jean B., Brian, Vic, and Jack) showed up to paddle at Waller Mill Reservoir.
The weather forecast was for hot and humid, with the heat index approaching 100 degrees. We started paddling at 9:30 There was not a breath of air stirring and the surface of the water was like a mirror. It was fun seeing the “water bugs” scurrying around in front of us. An occasional light breeze was welcome. We paddled through the tunnel under Airport Road and then follow the shoreline all the way around. It wasn’t until almost noon that the sun turned into a real heat lamp.
We paddled at a leisurely pace and enjoyed lots of good conversations. We covered about 6 miles before returning to the launch site for a leisurely (again) lunch. I think everybody was really relaxing after the long weekend. It was a great paddle and we were so relaxed and so hot that we headed home and skipped the traditional ice cream!
