The Tuesday Group took on Lake Drummond this week with Temps in the high 90’s and with the wind blowing out of the south/west which made a few one to two foot waves out on the lake. We had 16 boats and 17 Tuesday Groupers to show up at 8:15 A.M. there at Ballahack Road Boat Ramp to start our paddle. We did have 5 to show at Hardees for the Breakfast bunch around 7:30 A.M. some ate and others just showed up to talk. The day started off with 80 degrees temp and just got hotter as the day went on. We had all the boats in the water and had our talk about what we would be doing and where we would stop for lunch. We had 3 new people today Elizabeth, John and Kathy who had been with us before but not in awhile. There were two canoes and 14 kayaks with about 5 yellow ones but we had all colors today.
Reaching the dam after 4 miles down the canal and the feeder ditch, it was only 10:30 A.M. we took a short break after pulling out all the boats. Some clouds had moved in and we were not sure if a storm was on the way or not. We thought we would head on out to the lake and as we reach it the sky cleared and the sun was out again. With the wind from the south/west we decided to paddle south about one mile and then everyone but Bob turn back for the Dam so we could eat our lunches there, Bob did catch up with the group before we left and everyone paddle back together, some faster than others.
Back at the take out about 2:00 P.M. we loaded all the boats and 13 of us in true Tuesday Group fashion headed to the campground there on old Hwy 17 for ice cream. We all had one or two scoops and Bill, with a long hot ride back to Franklin had another ice cream, we all know he always likes to have 2 cones when eating ice cream. Margaret and I was back home by 3:45 P.M. unloading our kayaks and the air condition did fill good with the 100 degrees temperature. I think everyone had a very good time and will be ready for another Tuesday Group Trip again next week. Bruce
