We had a great paddle today. Rain was predicted by 11 am but that never happened. Skies were initially overcast so that helped moderate the heat a bit. Also, we had a gentle breeze from the south and that made paddling really pleasant. It also helped push water a little further up the creek! We started at dead low tide from the marina and made our way up the creek. Though we couldn't get as far as we've done in prior trips here, we made it pretty far. The water was smooth and just perfect. We saw lots of Great Blue Heron, at least one Bald Eagle, Kingfishers and lots of pretty flowers! We paddled about 7 miles and finished with lunch at the Billsburg Brewery. Helping to make it a perfect day were Ellis, Marti, Kim, Sherri, Marjorie, Kevin, Vic, Bruce G, Bill B, Gayle, John and me, Phyllis. Another great day for the Tuesday Group!~Phyllis
Thanks for a gorgeous paddle, Phyllis! It was great to be back with the gang!

Thanks Phyllis for leading this pleasant paddle. While the day started out overcast the sun came out and cheered us up. Thanks to Kevin for the use of his kayak dolly since I was not able to back into the launch and I had forgotten to bring my dolly. I got some great shots of great blue herons and even some lively crabs. It was strange to see a turtle sunning itself in the middle of the river standing on a log that was about four inches under the water.
