It was a great day for our Tuesday Outing which was a 21 mile Bike Ride in Suffolk, Va. Bill, Margaret, and Bruce stopped at Hardees for Breakfast on the way to The Great Dismal Swamp Wildlife Refuge. Then we drove down to the refuge and was there about 5 minutes when the cars began driving in. We had 21 bikers with 18 cars & trucks and we took up just about all the parking spaces. After everyone sign up on the login, we talked a little about the ride and roads that we would be biking on, with a few safety rules. Everyone spoke their name so we all would know everyone, and just about everyone knew their name. Elaine volunteered to be the sweep for our Bike Ride today, and I lead the group out of the parking lot onto the road making a left heading south. We road 7 miles south, about 8 miles west and 5.5 miles east finishing up with 0.5 miles north making the 21 miles total trip.
The ride was easy with little wind, not to hot, and the traffic down to about 8 cars all day. We saw lots of farm land, big beautiful homes and a few not so beautiful, and some that needed to be taken down, and lots of horses, with a few Llamas. Getting back to the Refuge about 12:30, 4 of the group wanted to skip lunch and head down to Lake Drummond which would be another 12 miles in and out on gravel road, but the others decided to call it a day of bike riding and head to the Bar-B-Q Restaurant there at the Suffolk Airport. We did have 2 young ladies that when to the wrong Airport, and not sure where they ate lunch. Everyone had a good meal and said they liked the restaurant very much and may return another time; it was a new place for just about everyone.
Hope the 4 bikers that rode down to the Lake had a good ride and maybe saw a bear or two. One of these days Ellis, one of these days, when you least expected it that elusive bear will show up.

Thanks Bruce for a fun ride on a beautiful day. The airport lunch was a real hoot with the guest appearance of the straw worm (see the video)
