Dismal Swamp Bike Trail 12-11-18

17 hardy folks arrived at Deep Creek Park to ride the Dismal Swamp Bike Trail. Cold temperatures but sunny skies gave us a nice day to bike ~22 miles. A close look at Bob’s pictures will show you how well everyone dressed for the weather. We saw several boats heading south on the Intercoastal Waterway. Some of us thought we might be seeing a bear ahead of us on the trail. Our excitement turned to laughs as Bruce rode ahead and confirmed it was just a sign on a gate across the trail. Amazing how your mind can play tricks on you! Bruce gave us insight into the history of the trail and area during our rest stops. When we returned to Deep Creek Park, everyone agreed that staying there for a picnic lunch on a cold day was not a good idea. We instead drove a few miles to Village Inn to have lunch, enjoying being inside the warm room and socializing with each other.

Thank you to all the fearless riders who came out and joined me for the final Tuesday Group bike ride in 2018.
