Deep Creek Park/Dismal Swamp Canal Bike Trail 7/13/2021

24 Tuesday Group folks met at Deep Creek Park for an ~22 mile bike ride to and along the Dismal Swamp Canal Bike Trail. The temperature and humidity was very high but everyone was glad to be biking again. As usual, we all talked and laughed as we pedaled along. After a traditional stop at The Bear statue, we continued. I and a few others turned around at about the 8 mile point – so hot! Others went a bit longer and the rest (led by Ellis – thank you) made the full round trip. Upon returning to Deep Creek Park, a few folks had to leave but most enjoyed a picnic lunch. Ellis and two others ended up getting back last. When he and I arrived at the picnic shelter, we were greeted by Happy Anniversary and a beautiful cake and card in honor of our 50th Wedding Anniversary. What a lovely surprise! Everyone ate cake then we said our goodbyes. It was so great to be together again. Thanks to everyone who came!!
