This was as near perfect a day for a paddle as we have ever had. Temperatures in the 70s, sunshine and no wind along with a great group made for a wonderful day. We paddled the western part of Waller Mill reservoir for about 3 hours following all of the nooks and crannies of all the fingers. Magnificent fall colors greeted us at every turn-golds, reds and oranges. We watched an eagle soar high above us and spied turtles sunning themselves on partially submerged logs. We saw signs of beavers that had chewed stumps and found a cache of fossilized shells along the shoreline. We covered about 7 miles that morning before stopping for lunch back at the put-in. A few opted to stay at the park to eat lunch and then paddle some more. The rest of us went to Peking Restaurant for a HUGE meal at their buffet. No calories lost this day! A fun day for all and no one fell out of their boat!
