Lake Drummond 12-2-14

Beautiful Paddle on Lake Drummond

Warm, dry and beautiful Lake Drummond, known as the Dismal Swamp Paddle. Four of us opted to stick to the original plan and go for it and what a great paddle we had. No rain, no hot sun beating down on us, no wind and so peaceful. This was the best choice for the paddling four. On board our three kayaks and one canoe we had Don, the big foot man, Bruce D. the I wanted to be at the last paddle Man, Bob A. the lone canoe man and Bruce J. the just one more mile man. We had a little more than a 3 hours paddle and covered a little over 14 miles. We were so relaxed no one bit any of their nails today. We did sit on the edge of our seats looking for bear, deer and Bald eagles but only found one lone eagle flying over the feeder ditch on the return trip. The mission we were on was to find our on little space, and this we did by drifting slowly across Lake Drummond. There was no wormhole to be found for us but we did see a Mole hole as we crossover the Spillway into a potentially habitable Lake on the other side. You can asked Don, we had a very good Happy Ending as he stepped out of his kayak onto solid ground so he could put his boot back on his foot. No Crab Shack for us but we had two lunches, one at the Spillway and another one at George Washington Ditch on the platform. It was “The Best Day Ever” we would have liked some of that birthday cake, but we did have a chocolate candy bar, Thanks Don ! “Happy Birthday Phyllis”
