We had a pretty awesome day today despite a threatening forecast! About 25 folks showed up under cloudy skies for a 5 miler on the Noland Trail. It wasn't super hot but was really really humid and everyone was feeling it after only a few minutes of walking. Fortunately the breeze off of the lake was delightful so we managed a few breaks to take advantage of that. This was a good day for wildlife too. We saw some does and their fawns as well as a pretty golden and green garter snake!
Most stayed for lunch at the Museum, followed by a fun tour and lecture by local historian John Quarstein. We spent an hour or so following him through the Monitor Gallery as he regaled us with tales of Ironclads in Hampton Roads.
Afterwards, we headed to Rita's Italian Ices for gelato. It was another great day for the Tuesday Group!
