False Cape Spring Trip Feb. 24 - 28, 2013
Our trip to False Cape was a little on the muddy side but we all had fun volunteering there at the park. Some of us did fall down into the mud more than others but at least we had a soft landing. On this trip we had Diana, Sandy, Christine, Natalie, Juliet, Dottie, Mike, Lee, Mark, Lou, Milton, Frank, John and Bruce. Margaret had plan to be with us but at the last minute she fell and hurt her ankle.
We had great food for the whole week and all the cooks did a great job preparing the meals, even the breakfast’s were pretty good. I was lucky this time I only wade 2 pounds more when I got home than I did when I left. Hope everyone else did as good.
We built about 100 feet of dock, tore down an old boat house, built 9 Wood Duck Boxes and replaced the wood on 4 picnic tables. At night we hiked 3 or 4 miles on some nights and on Sunday I had two GPS Courses for the group and after dividing them into A - team and B - team sent them out into the park to find 5 bottles and the first team back would get a prize. B - team won this time and each got a Pocket Flashlight.
This was another great trip to the park and everyone wanted to know when we would be going back once again. I hope I can get another trip set up soon. We finish the trip at Pungo Pizza & Ice Cream Parlor as always and it was very good. Thanks to all that came out this time and hope it want be the last time for the new people because of the mud.
