Fort Monroe Tour 3-25-14

Thirty four from the Group met at the McNair Road Parking Lot. After introductions Kirsten Talken-Spaulding, Superintendent of the Fort Monroe National Monument gave us a walking tour of some of the historical aspects of Fortress Monroe. She reminded us of the significance of the very spots were we stood to our country. We are so fortunate to have a place like this in our community. After our tour we were turned over to Darcy Nelson, the Education and Volunteer Coordinator for the Casemate Museum who escorted us into the Museum. Special thanks to Kirsten and Darcy for making our day so meaningful.

After we left the Fort we drove about a mile to Mama Rosa’s for lunch. We in the Tuesday Group know how to eat. As we were leaving we were already looking forward to our next adventure.
