Yorktown Bike Ride 6/11/2019

It would be an understatement to say we had a spectacular day for a bike ride today as the weather was truly extraordinary! After some extremely hot and humid days as well as many with torrential downpours we were treated to sunny blue skies, gentle breezes, warm (not hot) temperatures and low humidity. What a treat! Riding today were Ellis, Bill G, Bill B, Vic, Margaret, Stephanie, Steve, Sharon, Bob A, Ed M, Jay, Jack, Carl, Bob Saff, Curt and me, Phyllis. We did the usual route starting at Newport News Park, riding to Washington's Redoubt and on to the Visitor center at the National Park. We also added the French Loop today as it was just so beautiful. After a short break there, we headed to the Yorktown Pub for our lunch where we feasted on crab cakes, burgers and gumbo. After lunch some went for ice cream, some headed home and some rode up to visit "Pierre" and "Jacques", the cannons at the French battery. But Pierre and Jacques are gone! Probably moved to a safer location (i.e. away from the Tuesday Group ; )

After the non-cannons we rode back to the Victory Monument for our obligatory photo and then continued our ride through the park, admiring several sporty convertibles along the way. It was a nice day for a ride in a sporty convertible too! We finished our route arriving back at the parking lot to share hugs and goodbyes...until the next Tuesday Group adventure!
