We had seventeen from the Group brave the weather for our ride. The Group enjoyed meeting two new folks who joined us from the UK. The skies were cloudy with misty fog at the start. Once we were able to get across Great Neck Road we had a clear path into First Landing State Park. Stopping at the Visitors Center briefly we rode down the wet but passable Cape Henry Trail. Arriving at 64th Street Park entrance we crossed Atlantic Avenue one block down at 63rd Street. We loved riding the narrow winding Ocean Avenue beside the million dollar beach homes. Once we were on the Boardwalk we had easy riding to the King Neptune Statue. After a short picture stop we rode to Rudee Inlet in time to see a large sailboat coming in from the Atlantic.
On our return we were only slightly challenged by a Northerly wind. Once we were at the end of the Boardwalk, we took a detour to the grand Old Cavalier Hotel built in 1907. However, Mark C ended up with a glass sliver in his rear tire. After a quick tube change we were off riding along the bike trail and feeder road beside Atlantic Avenue. Back through the Park we found our way to Tini’s for our ice cream treat. Thus ends another fun day for the Tuesday Group.
