On 9 August 2019, 20 members of the Tuesday Group gathered in Surry County’s Government Center for their annual—well we do it every year now—Blueberry Ride. It is a fun 25 mile ride through relatively flat but interesting terrain. It passes through a bit of history—Bacon’s Castle is mid-way, followed shortly by Chippokes Plantation. Take a look at Bill Billings pictures and note why we spent more time at
Chippokes—the butterflies were extraordinarily colorful. More importantly, we then stop at College Run Farms for their “made on the farm” ice cream. The weather could not have been better—middling warm with a gentle breeze. Most then went to lunch at Anna’s—the Surry Seafood Co was closed this week due to a kitchen fire--and we took a few hours for service and billing. But we had fun with good company, and that is why we do these activities!
