Carrollton - Smithfield 11/23/21

Nine cyclists participated in the Carrollton to Smithfield bike ride. We Tuesday Group veterans (Ellis, Marti, Phyllis, Bruce J, Bill B, Sandra, Bruce D, Bill L, Diane L), came well outfitted against the 37⁰ temperature and 15-19mph winds, and were saddled up to leave 5 minutes early! We began the ride at Nike Park and travelled the recently opened “Park to Park” trail, which includes a newly constructed ¼ mile bridge over Jones Creek. We continued through several Smithfield neighborhoods, seeing glimpses of the Pagan River, before crossing Cypress Creek on S. Church Street (watch out for the drains!) and circled through Windsor Castle Park. A couple of hills, one more neighborhood, and a ride back on the trail had us completing the “just under” 22 miles by 12:25PM. Many of us drove back to Smithfield Station and were delighted to meet up with a few more Tuesday Groupers for lunch. It was a good day!
