This was the day that it rained more than I can ever remember. Cars were flooded all over Tidewater yet the Tuesday Group pushed on. The thought of John and Carolyn offering their home, BBQ and ice cream to us was all it took to have a good turnout.
John met us with an umbrella in his hand. He had about six inches of water in his driveway down by the street. After we had arrived the discussion ensued. Should we bike or hike. Some stuck with the original plan of biking. The balance of the group decided to hike the nearby North West River Park.
It is my understanding the biking was a little slippery having to ride through water at several locations. They covered about ten miles.
The hiking group which took it all in as another adventure. North West River Park is about ten minutes’ drive from John and Carolyn’s home. We explored the gravel road down to the river. For Bruce’s benefit we need to tell you that we saw a bear. In fact, several of the ladies posed for pictures with him. Moving on we went down to the River. By this time we had blue skies. As we retraced our steps we ran across a Snapping Turtle. He seemed a little bothered with all the commotion. At one point he was looking at Stephanie with an evil look.
Getting back to John and Carolyn’s the biking group had already started with the BBQ and fixings. It was soo good most when back for seconds and in some cases thirds. Then John brought out the ice cream. What a spread!
Special thanks go out to John and Carolyn for hosting us. We all had a great time and we will all start our diets tomorrow. Another great day for the Tuesday Group.
