Almost thirty folks turned out for the meandering walk through Norfolk Botanical Gardensand the weather cooperated despite the forecast.
One small group headed off the beaten path, exploring the garden perimeter. Another small group headed to the WOW Children's Adventure Garden for cooling fun in the fountains. The large group headed toward the back of the botanical gardens, into the Enchanted Forest.
Cooling breezes occasionally offset the steamier, enclosed sections of the gardens. The Mitchell Smith glass sculptures scattered throughout the gardens delighted all.
Next, at the Butterfly House, we enjoyed an informative talk by an expert naturalist: the Garden's official supplier of butterflies.
Convening at the Perennial Garden, we gathered hands and walked around the Friendship Pond, thereby assuring that--according to legend--our friendships will be cemented for life!
Hunger pangs were then put to rest at the Picnic Shelter, followed by ice cream treats at the cafe. Finishing the walk, we climbed up to the airport overlook, and took a final loop around Mirror Lake before returning to our cars.
Thanks to all who participated in a day of fun for all ages!--Kama Mitchell
